A Labor of Loaf Haddon Township

A Labor of Loaf is Rising: Popular Cottage Baker Opening Bakery in Haddon Township

For fans of naturally fermented sourdough and handcrafted artisan bread, there’s something exciting baking in Haddon Township.

After building a loyal following as a home-based bakery in Audubon, A Labor of Loaf Bread Company is preparing to open its very first bakery at 811 Hopkins Road in Haddon Township.

While the grand opening is still several weeks away, the announcement marks a major milestone for owner Aimee Speas, whose passion project has steadily grown through word-of-mouth, weekly bread drops, pop-up events, local markets, and partnerships with retail outlets like Haddon Culinary, Haddon Hall, and others.

What began in Speas’ home kitchen has become a beloved source for bread lovers seeking authentic, small-batch sourdough made the traditional way. Every loaf is handcrafted using carefully maintained sourdough starters, premium ingredients, and time-honored baking techniques that prioritize flavor, texture, and quality over speed.

The bakery’s philosophy has always been simple: great bread takes patience. From classic country loaves to seasonal specialty breads, everything is mixed, shaped, and baked with the kind of personal attention that has become increasingly rare in today’s fast-paced food world.

The new storefront will allow A Labor of Loaf to expand beyond its home bakery roots while continuing the same small-batch approach customers have come to appreciate. Until now, customers have primarily ordered ahead for weekly pickups in Audubon or found Speas at local pop-up events throughout South Jersey.

Although an official opening date has not yet been announced, anticipation is already building as construction and preparations continue inside the new bakery space. Recent social media updates have offered followers a glimpse behind the scenes as the dream of a dedicated bakery comes to life.

For Haddon Township, the addition of another independently owned artisan bakery is welcome news and continues the area’s reputation as one of South Jersey’s growing culinary destinations.

Keep an eye on A Labor of Loaf’s social media channels for opening announcements and sneak peeks as the ovens prepare to fire up at 811 Hopkins Road.

I have been eating her bread for almost a year. It’s so much healthier and tasty than anything you can get in the stores. Don’t sleep on the crackers; they are my favorite
