When MoonDog Grill announced its closing, a palpable sadness washed over many hot dog lovers in South Jersey. The long-time hot dog joint at the Moorestown Mall had called it a day when owners Ira and Bernadette Guttman decided to retire. Of course, they owned the beloved Cool Dog Cafe in Cherry Hill before that. Indeed the end of an era for hot dogs in South Jersey.
MoonDog Grill’s closing also left another vacancy at the Moorestown Mall food court. With MMT Kitchen also closing next door, that corner sat empty for several weeks, leaving people to wonder if another food stand would open at the beleaguered shopping center.

Fortunately, it won’t be vacant for too much longer. However, it will not be another hog dog stand. A new Mexican eatery is furiously setting up shop and looking to open soon.
Amigos Mexican Grill will offer Mexican street food such as tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, and birria tacos. You can never have too many tacos, eh?
(FYI: this one is not affiliated with the one in Wenonah.)
Owner Tony Khalil told South Jersey Food Scene, “We will be opening in less than two weeks.”
So, if you find yourself at the Moorestown Mall or seeing a movie at the Regal Cinemas, check out Amigos Mexican Grill for some quick-serve Mexican fare.
Stay tuned for more details and a “first look” soon.
