JUNE 2026 UPDATE! Back Alley BBQ is now closed. It will become The Corner Seafood. More details to emerge soon.
Rumors have been circulating across social media following a recent property listing for the building that houses Back Alley BBQ in Pennsauken—but according to owner and pitmaster Dr. Ron Jones, the South Jersey barbeque spot is not closing… yet.
In a direct confirmation to South Jersey Food Scene, Dr. Jones made it clear: Back Alley BBQ is still fully operational and serving customers Tuesday through Sunday from 11 AM to 7 PM. While the property itself may be listed for sale, the day-to-day operations of the restaurant have not changed.
The confusion stems from a widely shared post advertising the property at 2591 Haddonfield Road in Pennsauken as a turnkey restaurant opportunity. Naturally, that sparked concern among loyal fans of Dr. Ron’s slow-smoked meats. At this time, those fears are unfounded.
Dr. Jones emphasized that if a sale were to impact the future of the business, customers would receive plenty of notice. As always, South Jersey Food Scene remains committed to verifying information directly with business owners before sharing updates with the community.
For now, it’s business as usual—and that means ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and all the signature flavors that have made Back Alley BBQ a local staple. The restaurant continues to earn praise. Past features by yours truly on Philly Grub in 2018, highlighted dedication to authentic barbecue.
Don’t forget! Back Alley BBQ is also a proud participant in the SJFS Frequent Diner program, offering card holders $5 off orders of $30 or more—another great reason to stop in and show your support.
Bottom line: don’t believe the rumors—believe the smoke. Back Alley BBQ is open and ready to serve. If that changes, you’ll be the first to know right here.
