Are you ready for more hot chicken, South Jersey?
Get excited because Birdies Hot Chicken is opening at 2442 Route 38 in a small shopping center strip less than a mile from the Cherry Hill Mall.
According to its website, Birdies was started in August 2021 by Moon and Sara, who opened the first location in Brooklyn. They followed it up with a location in Parsippany in 2023. Now, its third location will open here in Cherry Hill.
The Nashville-style hot chicken craze is taking a foothold in South Jersey with openings of Asad’s (multiple locations), Iffy’s (Burlington), Nanu’s (Woodlynne), and Dave’s Hot Chicken (Cherry Hill), among others, bringing the heat to the region.
Birdies joins the South Jersey hot chicken fray with its halal chicken sandwiches, tenders (“tendies”), fries, and milkshakes. The website boasts that their chicken is “the most flavorful, juiciest, and tender ever known.”
I have been awaiting an announcement to write about this opening. I just learned it plans to open this Friday (October 4th). That’s all the information I have now, but I will post more details once I get them.
So, South Jersey… are you ready for more hot chicken?
