JUNE 2026 UPDATE: Blums Ice Cream to soft open on Friday, June 26!
The family behind Train Wreck Distillery is going from spirits for scoops this summer as they expand into a sweeter side of hospitality.
The Diamond family, known locally for building one of Burlington County’s more recognizable craft distilleries, is now preparing to open Blums Ice Cream in Southampton Township, with a target opening for sometime in June, just in time for a hot summer. The concept marks a fun new chapter for the family, one rooted in nostalgia, community, and classic summer treats.
“We are super excited about a new venture,” Sean Diamond told South Jersey Food Scene. “We are starting out with ice cream, water ice, sundaes, milkshakes, etc. We’ll also have homemade waffle cones.”
At launch, the focus will remain squarely on frozen desserts, though the family already has broader ambitions for the space. Diamond hinted that Blums could eventually evolve into a breakfast-driven concept, expanding beyond desserts once the business finds its footing.
For now, however, the goal is simple: create a family-friendly ice cream shop along a scenic stretch of Burlington County highway between Vincentown and Tabernacle, near some already iconic dairy bars. Ice cream is always a sure bet, especially in warm-weather months, so the more the merrier.
According to Diamond, “Blums” comes from a childhood nickname within the family. When his sister was a toddler, she adored ice cream but called it “blum-blums.” The nickname stuck — and years later, it has become the inspiration for the family’s newest business venture.
Blums Ice Cream will take over the space at 1820 Route 206 in Southampton Township, the former home of Mi Casa Tu Casa Mexican restaurant, which closed quietly last year and, years before, Arlene’s Florist.
