UPDATE DECEMBER 2019: Stone Fire Pizza, a fast-casual concept with small plates, pizza, and salads by Midici, is now open. No booze. Probably BYOB.
The California Pizza Kitchen in the Cherry Hill Mall has closed permanently. All social media pages have been removed and it’s no longer listed on the corporate website. We enjoyed a few meals there over the years, but I have to admit, the last time we went (earlier this year) it was pretty dead in there so I can’t say I’m surprised.
Cherry Hill pizza lovers need not fret. A new, modern restaurant specializing in “authentic” Neopolitan pizza will be opening later in the year. MiDici will be located between Bahama Breeze and the new Fatburger, across from Seasons 52. According to the website, it looks like a more upbeat place with a tight menu.
The restaurant features two, 1000-degree wood-fired pizza ovens showcased in the “heart” (center) of the restaurant which are handbuilt in Naples, Italy and brought here. I’m not really a pizza eater, but they seem to have other items on the menu that I’ll be able to partake in. No word on gluten-free pizza dough, which was a big draw for gluten-sensitive pizza lovers at CPK.
Stay tuned for more as we get it.
