De Luca’s Pizza and Grill is a new eat-in, take-out, and delivery pizza restaurant now open at 200 White Horse Road East in Voorhees.
Giuseppe De Luca, 29, grew up in a family who own and operate a very prominent South Philadelphia food business, but he wanted to strike out on his own.
Giuseppe’s father, Maurizio, is still very hands-on at Marra’s Italian Restaurant (now in its fourth generation of ownership) on East Passyunk Avenue. A native of Italy, he bought into the family business in 2000. Now he’s also a partner at his son’s Voorhees pizza shop.
“I always wanted to start my own business,” Giuseppe De Luca of the Sicklerville area said. “But do it in South Jersey, where I grew up.”
Before opening De Luca’s Pizza and Grill, De Luca had been helping manage Marra’s for many years, gaining valuable restaurant experience. He felt it was the right time to start his own food business.
De Luca’s will have the usual Italian pizza shop fare, specializing in gourmet pizzas and craft South Philly-style sandwiches and cheesesteaks. The restaurant will be open for early risers offering breakfast sandwiches on Kaiser rolls. It will also offer homemade soups, salads, and pasta dishes.
Operating hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 8 AM to 8 PM, and Sunday, 10 AM to 8 PM.
