Dolce Vita Gelato will soon be celebrating three years in Washington Township, offering a taste of authentic Italian gelato in South Jersey. Owned by Nick and Kim Corso of Williamstown, the shop is at the corner of Greentree Road and Chapel Heights Road, across from Duffield’s Farm.
Inspired by their travels to Italy, particularly the town of San Gimignano in Tuscany, the Corsos aimed to bring the essence of Italian gelato to South Jersey. Nick spent three weeks in Bologna, Italy, studying under gelato experts to master the craft of gelato making.

Gelato differs from traditional ice cream because it uses more milk and less cream and usually doesn’t include egg yolks. The result is a product that stands out for its density and creaminess, achieved by incorporating less air and maintaining optimal temperatures to prevent it from freezing solid.

The interior of Dolce Vita Gelato transports visitors to an Italian outdoor café. A wall-sized photo of San Gimignano, taken by the Corsos during their travels, sets the scene. Artist Steve Morrone of Imagine Factory extended this image into a panoramic mural with 3D elements like a terra cotta roof overhang and a windowsill planter, enhancing the immersive experience.
The Corsos have paid close attention to detail to give guests the feeling of being in Italy—including a wide-screen TV on the back wall that continually plays videos of walking tours through charming Italian villages.
In addition to gelato, the shop offers refreshing sorbetto (a dairy-free, fruit-based frozen dessert), cannoli filled with gelato, gelato pops, and other desserts. It’s your one-stop shop for frozen delights.
The shop also features a coffee bar serving espresso, cappuccino, and other hot and cold coffee-based beverages using coffee beans from Naples. The lattes with gelato are especially a big hit—think affogato, but better! The espresso and whipped cream machines, imported from Italy, create the most authentic Italian coffee experience.

The menu varies, so patrons are encouraged to follow Dolce Vita Gelato on Facebook or Instagram for updates on new flavors. However, the Amarena cherry gelato that started their obsession with gelato and a few other flavors are permanently on the menu daily.
Mixing flavors is also encouraged, with many flavors available anytime that complement each other. We couldn’t try just one upon our visit, so we mixed several flavors. Heaven on a spoon!

Since its opening, Dolce Vita Gelato has become a favorite sweet spot for locals and visitors alike, and thanks to the South Jersey Food Scene group and word of mouth, many people travel from throughout the region and even from out of state. With good reason—you won’t find an authentic Italian gelato experience like this anywhere else in South Jersey.
