A small business in Downtown Haddonfield is preparing to say goodbye. We never like to report news about closings, but it is for a very good reason.
Downtown Cookies, the popular cookie shop at 123 Kings Highway East, has announced that it will close its doors at the end of August.
Owner Morgan Kramarski shared the news on social media, explaining that the decision comes as she turns her attention to her growing family and the next chapter of her life.
The closing brings to an end a run that started during one of the most challenging times imaginable to launch a small business.
From a Pandemic Startup to a Downtown Haddonfield Storefront
Morgan started Downtown Cookies in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The business grew into a recognizable local brand specializing in oversized, homemade-style cookies made without preservatives and with fresh ingredients.
Over the years, Downtown Cookies expanded beyond its signature cookies to offer biscotti, cookie cakes, Dough-to-Go and other treats, along with locally sourced milk and La Colombe coffee and tea. The business also developed a following for event favors, corporate gifts and nationwide shipping.
Opening a business in 2020 was no small accomplishment. Downtown Haddonfield’s shops and restaurants were navigating shutdowns, capacity restrictions and rapidly changing rules at the time, making Downtown Cookies’ growth from a pandemic-era startup into a brick-and-mortar business particularly notable.
A Focus on Family
After approximately six years of building the Downtown Cookies brand, Morgan is now ready to step away from the business and focus on her growing family.
For customers who have followed Downtown Cookies from its early days, the announcement is certainly bittersweet. What started during an uncertain period became a familiar part of Haddonfield’s bustling Kings Highway business district.
Downtown Cookies will remain open through the end of August at 123 Kings Highway East in Haddonfield before officially closing its doors.
