ICYMI, after nearly five decades in local restaurants, the longtime owners of Keg & Kitchen decided to retire and sold the business to the group behind Il Villagio in Cherry Hill. Brothers Artan and Arber Murtaj, alongside Andi and Tony Lelaj, are spearheading Duo.
The name Duo reflects the partnership of two sets of brothers leading the project and the idea of pairing approachable food with refined flavors.
Since January 13, the group has been working on renovations inside the former Keg & Kitchen space:
- The liquor license was officially transferred from the state of New Jersey to the new owners, clearing a major regulatory hurdle.
- Duo is undergoing a significant re-fit, including all-new kitchen equipment and upgrades to the bar and dining room to create a fresh, modern-rustic space with a trendy, contemporary vibe.
Duo will offer a menu that bridges Italian classics, American favorites, and globally influenced small plates. Anticipated elements include:
- Scratch-made pastas and entrees
- Local seafood
- A curated wine list and signature cocktails
- A craft beer program that retains and expands upon Keg & Kitchen’s popular tap lineup
The official Duo Restaurant & Bar website highlights Italian-inspired dishes alongside local seafood and seasonal ingredients, paired with wines, cocktails, and 18 craft beers on tap.
South Jersey Food Scene has spoken with the owner, who indicates the team is targeting an opening before the end of February.
As Duo prepares to open, Haddon Avenue continues to thrive as one of South Jersey’s most vibrant dining corridors. Stay tuned for more information about that opening date as soon as we have it!
In the meantime, the restaurant’s website, Facebook, and Instagram are live.
Editor’s Note: Earlier, it had been indicated that they might open by Valentine’s Day. They will not.
