Get ready, seafood lovers in South Jersey! It’s hide tide for a seafood shop in Haddonfield.
Fishtown Seafood opened its flagship location in Fishtown (hence the name) in 2022 and a second location in Fitler Square in June of this year.
Now, Fishtown Seafood is setting up shop in South Jersey at 114 Kings Highway East in the heart of Haddonfield.

Fishtown Seafood is a “new school fish shop” that has become Philly’s go-to spot for thoughtfully sourced fish and seafood in the highest state of freshness so customers can enjoy the best seafood experience at home.
We’re very lucky to have them bringing a boatload of seafood and seafood knowledge over to this side of the bridge.
Owner Bryan Szeliga, 49, has always had his mind on expanding into South Jersey. When the opportunity to take over the former Edible Arrangements came up, he took it. While there are some niche seafood shops in South Jersey, Bryan doesn’t only want to sell products to customers, his goal is to offer a shopping experience that focuses on product education, sustainability, and culinary techniques.

But Wait… There’s More!
Bryan, who previously worked in the commercial fish industry before opening his shops, also has a culinary background. As a trained chef, he knows the importance of high-quality seafood, and it is his mission to ensure his customers receive the freshest seafood possible to take their seafood-centric meals at home to the next level.
Which is why a majority of the products he sells is frozen, or superfrozen. Superfreezing is an accelerated process in which fish is frozen immediately after it is harvested. It uses ultra-low temperatures to freeze fish solid in a matter of minutes or even seconds to limit or completely stop decomposition. Furthermore, this process allows the seafood to be free of commonly used chemicals in the seafood industry like Sodium Tripolyphosphate and Carbon Monoxide.
This focus on what’s best for customers and the planet is what earned Szeliga the Triple Bottom Champion award from the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia. The award is given for businesses that embody being mindful of people, planet, and profit.

The Haddonfield location has approximately 400 square feet of retail space in the front of the store, and a large prep kitchen in the back which will be used mostly for packaging, storage, and wholesale order preparation (he supplies seafood to many Philadelphia restaurants and hopes to do the same in South Jersey). He kicked around some ideas for expanding his product offerings, which are in various stages of research and development. He’s always thinking about how to grow his seafood business.
Among the most popular items he sells, are a large variety of fresh “Youse Shuck” oysters from all over the East Coast. Since food cannot be consumed on-site, you will not see oysters on the half shell here. You purchase them whole and shuck them yourself at home. Don’t worry, he sells oyster shucking knives and will demonstrate to you how to shuck an oyster!
Do not be intimidated! There will be plenty of educational opportunities either through seafood classes or simply by following Fishtown Seafood on Instagram.
Now, without further adieu, the Grand Opening date is set for…
