Free Will Coffee opening on Main Street in Marlton

Free Will Coffee Opening Shop on Main Street in Marlton

A South Jersey mobile coffee business is putting down roots in the heart of Marlton.

Free Will Coffee, owned by spouses Lieza Wasserman and Tyler Wasserman, is preparing to open its first brick-and-mortar coffee shop at 23 East Main Street in Marlton. They announced it on their Instagram account yesterday.

The new location marks a big next step for a business that coffee lovers may already recognize from its mobile setup. Free Will Coffee has been serving specialty coffee on the go, popping up at festivals, markets, community events, local businesses, corporate gatherings, races, and other events throughout South Jersey.

Now, the Wassermans are bringing that same concept to a permanent home on Main Street.

They tell SJFS, “We used our free will and left our corporate jobs to live a life more fulfilling in our eyes. We want this place to inspire those looking to live a life they dream about, that they can take the chance. We are so grateful for the South Jersey community and to each and every person that we’ve handed a cup to. Here’s to free will!”

Free Will Coffee focuses on locally roasted, fully traceable, single-origin beans, with a menu featuring espresso drinks, lattes, cappuccinos, Americanos, cold brew, drip coffee, chai, tea, and hot chocolate.

The menu also has some personality of its own through a lineup of signature lattes called “Willma’s Classics.” Current creations include the Shaka with banana, hazelnut, and vanilla; 10,000 Feet with vanilla, brown sugar, and cinnamon; Morning Dew with lavender and local honey; and Astrovan with blueberry and real maple syrup.

The brick-and-mortar shop represents an evolution for a business built around mobility and community events. Free Will’s mobile operation has allowed the Wassermans to bring specialty coffee directly to customers rather than waiting for customers to come to them.

Their story has already attracted some local attention. PHL17 previously featured the couple and their mobile coffee business, highlighting how they got started and brought their coffee cart concept to South Jersey.

Opening at 23 East Main Street also puts Free Will Coffee in the middle of Marlton’s growing Main Street business district, adding another locally owned food and beverage destination to the neighborhood.

And for those who have gotten used to seeing Free Will Coffee out and about, the permanent location doesn’t necessarily mean the end of its mobile roots. The company continues to promote its mobile coffee service for festivals, markets, corporate events, sporting events, races, pop-ups, and private gatherings.

An opening date and additional details about the new Marlton shop are expected to come as Lieza and Tyler get closer to welcoming customers.
