Pizza Crime Haddonfield

The Pepper-Jawni at Haddonfield’s Pizza Crime is Best Pizza in New Jersey

According to NJ.com, Haddonfield’s Pizza Crime has the top pizza in the entire state of New Jersey.

Intrepid food reporters Pete Genovese and Jeremy Schneider trekked all over the state and tried dozens upon dozens of pizzas at pizzerias all over the state. They ranked the 99 top pizzas, and Pizza Crime’s Pepper-Jawni came out on top as the best pizza in NJ. Amazing!

To paraphrase a quote, “Many in North Jersey believe that South Jersey is a pizza wasteland. Well, SJ is well-represented on this list, and the Pepper-Jawni is our pick for top pizza in the Garden State.”

We visited a couple of months ago for the Sinatra Sunday Brunch, tried the Pepper-Jawni, and were completely blown away by this artisanal pizza. High-quality ingredients and precise technique set this pizza apart from others.

It is no wonder that the pizza is so special; Nab learned the art of pizza-making from celebrated chef Marc Vetri, who wrote a book on the topic, Mastering Pizza: The Art and Practice of Handmade Pizza, Focaccia, and Calzone.

Nab worked at Pizzeria Vetri for a time and decided to strike out on his own in 2020. Pizza Crime has been well received in Haddonfield and has put the town back on the pizza map (after Angelo’s moved to South Philly).

Now that the whole state knows where to get good pizza in South Jersey, I suspect business will boom for a while at the small Haddonfield pizza shop. Here’s hoping business will blast off for the other South Jersey pizza shops.

While this is one of our favorites, pizza is very subjective. These lists are always subject to change; they constantly update them to spread the love around. Last year, it was someone else, next year, it will probably be another spot. It’s just great to see South Jersey finally getting the love and attention it deserves from NJ.com. We’ve waited a long time for this moment!

For that, we should all be grateful and not take too much offense to this pick. There are TONS of great pizzas throughout the state, including many other pizza shops in South Jersey. Let’s celebrate that South Jersey is a destination for great food, and we have excellent chefs and restaurants turning out delicious cuisine worthy of local, regional, and national attention.

Polite suggestions of other great pizzas in South Jersey will be accepted in the comments.
