I initially wrote about Happy Scoops last year. The previous owner decided to close, and then he found new owners. This story is a bit bittersweet, though. 🙁
In April, Salvatore Castorina bought the ice cream shop with the intention of renovating it and opening a small business for his retirement. He used to own SCE Auto Cosmetics in Sewell. He planned to run the new business with his family—his wife (Julie), daughters (Taylor and Monique), and son-in-law (Jim).
In May, he received the news that he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in May and immediately started treatment. During this challenging time, his family continued renovating the ice cream shop to get the shop open.
Sadly, Salvatore passed away after only five weeks in the hospital. The Castorina family honored his wishes and continued with opening Happy Scoops. All the names on the menu reference him and his passion – motor vehicles (classic cars and motorcycles).

Follow them on Instagram for their yummy ice cream creations!
Please visit Happy Scoops at 300 White Horse Road in Voorhees and support this small family business! It’s in the same strip of stores as Siena Italian Creative Cuisine and Mount Masala Himalayan Cuisine.
Operating days/hours are Monday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
