Is Royale Restaurant in Atco Closed?

Someone anonymously posted to the South Jersey Food Scene group today that Royale Restaurant at 490 White Horse Pike in Atco is now closed. Speculation commenced and, while the OP was adamant that’s what they heard, other folks chimed in that it was not in fact closed. The bickering started. Ugh.

Naturally, I had to shut down the post because I am not at all a fan of the rumor mill especially when an official announcement about a closing hasn’t been made. I prefer to hear it directly from the business owner, and I think that’s where it should come from!

So, I had to get to the bottom of this because 1) people have the right to know from the horse’s mouth; and 2) they are a participating business in the Frequent Diner program. If they are closed, I would have to remove them from the program.

So, is Royale Restaurant in Atco closed?

Well, no. But sorta yes!

Royale Banquets and Events is still very much open doing business as usual for events, catering, etc.

Royale Restaurant is, however, temporarily closed. I spoke with the owner today and he said that the restaurant had to close for extensive renovations (including some major plumbing work) that will likely take several weeks. They are anticipating the restaurant part of the facility to re-open to the public on September 15th. That is the plan right now.

As a result, they have taken the restaurant website off-line so not to confuse people thinking the restaurant is currently open. If you call the number (856) 809-2340), someone will answer the phone and they will be happy to tell you the same thing they told me!

So, no: Royale Restaurant is not permanently closed. If anybody tells you otherwise, call the restaurant. Ask them first.

Of course, if anything changes, the owner will let me know, and I will be sure to provide you all with an update. I WILL be staying on top of it.

In the meantime, if you want to join the Frequent Diner program… here are the details:
