APRIL UPDATE: La Morelense Plus is now open in Marlton!
A beloved South Jersey ice cream and dessert destination is expanding. La Morelense Plus, known for its authentic Mexican-style ice cream and street snacks, is set to open a new location in the Crispin Square Shopping Center in Marlton. The shop will take over the former TCBY space, which closed earlier this year.

La Morelense Plus has earned a loyal following at its Oaklyn location, thanks to its vibrant atmosphere and unique menu. Mexican ice cream sets itself apart from traditional ice cream with its use of fresh, natural ingredients and bold, distinctive flavors. Guests can expect options such as elote (sweet corn), mamey, horchata, and mangonada — a sweet-and-spicy blend of mango, chamoy, and Tajín. The offerings are rich, creamy, and often accompanied by colorful street-style treats like fresh fruit with chili and lime, Mexican street corn, and chicharrón preparado.
The shop is also known for its festive, family-friendly environment, complete with bright colors, upbeat music, and a mix of sweet and savory snacks that appeal to all ages.
The original La Morelense Plus opened in Oaklyn in April 2024. It’s nice to see this family-run, seasonal operation owned by Sergio and Filomena Alvarez doing so well enough to open a second location. That area already has two other ice cream shops: Daddy-O Creamery and Swirl’n, which are open year round.
We’ll keep you updated as opening day approaches, but definitely looking closer to Spring 2026 if all goes well.
