Montegrillo Cucina Italiana, located at 702 Haddon Avenue in Collingswood, closed last November after operating for only seven months. Now it has gotten a fresh new start… and probably a new name! Keep reading.
The restaurant has officially reopened under the ownership of Giacomo Biondo, a well-known face to local food lovers. Biondo previously worked at Café Antonio’s II and brings decades of Italian restaurant experience to the new chapter of Montegrillo.
When his friend Franco of Sapori Trattoria Italiana (601 Haddon Avenue) told him the space was available, he jumped on it. He told South Jersey Food Scene that it was an easy decision to take over the space.

For now, the name is unchanged. When I asked about that, he seemed pretty tight-lipped about it. However, upon a Google search, he registered a new name for the business at the address. According to the filing, the new name will be Jack’s Pizza & Pasta. It remains to be seen when the new name will take effect.

Either way, long-time fans of Giacomo were ecstatic upon hearing the news of his return to Collingswood. Loyal customers from the past have already stopped by, and curious new patrons are already checking it out.
Giacomo is no stranger to the already vibrant food scene in Collingswood. Now he’s back in the community and is eager to serve you.
The restaurant offers dine-in, take-out, and delivery (through Slice). The slightly updated menu offers the requisite pizza, hoagies, sandwiches, salads, and Italian specialties.
Stay tuned as soon as we know the name change is in effect or any other menu changes, we’ll be sure to report it here.
In the meantime, if you go, let us know!
