Munch N Chew is NOT Bringing Soul Food to Downtown Swedesboro

JULY 2026 UPDATE: This is no longer happening. I know more about this, but that’s not my story to tell. In the meantime, Munch N Chew is still looking for a brick and mortar. If you know a spot, get in touch with them!

A new destination for soulful cuisine is coming to Swedesboro. Munch N Chew, a local soul food concept, is preparing to open a brick-and-mortar location at 1342 Kings Highway in downtown Swedesboro.

Currently under construction, the new takeout spot will be located next door to Cocks in a Box, in the former Tesoro Macron Company space, with an anticipated opening by the end of spring. For fans who have followed the Munch N Chew journey, the new space marks an exciting next chapter for a business that has steadily built a reputation for delivering satisfying, soul-hugging meals.

Munch N Chew operates as a division of Catering by Sheriese, and the name was inspired by the owner’s children, a reflection of the love and care poured into every dish. And according to the owner, the name is fitting: once customers get a taste, “munching and chewing” is exactly what they’ll be doing.

The concept centers around classic soul food. Each dish is prepared with what they describe as “real food and flavor,” evoking the comforting feeling of a traditional Sunday dinner—available any day of the week. From hearty, full meals to lighter bites, the menu is designed to satisfy a wide range of cravings while staying true to its roots.

One element that will keep customers coming back is the rotating menu, which will change every few weeks. While offerings may vary, the promise remains the same: tried-and-true recipes, seasoned to perfection, and delivered as a “10/10 experience” every time.

Previously, Munch N Chew operated out of Coffee and Cream III in Woolwich Township, where it quietly built a loyal following. The transition to a dedicated storefront signals growth and an opportunity to reach even more diners across Gloucester County and beyond.

As Swedesboro continues to evolve as a dining destination, Munch N Chew’s arrival adds a flavorful new layer to the local food scene. For those seeking comfort food done right, this upcoming opening is one to watch.
