Indiya Flavors of India closed for business at the end of August 2024 after almost 12 years at 608 Haddon Ave in Collingswood. The location has sat vacant since then, but it won’t be vacant for much longer.
An eagle-eyed resident noticed a sign go up on the window indicating a new Indian restaurant will be taking its place, and posted it to the Collingswood Facebook group.
Namaste Indian Bistro is getting ready to bring Indian food back to Collingswood. It won’t be their first location. There is a location in Warminster, PA, and they recently opened another in West Philadelphia.
I spoke with someone who works at the Warminster location, and they confirmed it is the same restaurant group. They are excited to open in Collingswood. They noted that the menu will mostly be the same as their other locations, but will take a slightly Southern Indian slant.
Indeed, most Indian favorites will be available at this location, but dosas will be featured. Dosas are a thin, savory crepe that are known for their crispy exterior and soft interior, and can be enjoyed plain or filled with a variety of ingredients.
The Warminster location offers a weekend buffet, but I forgot to ask if the Collingswood restaurant will also have a buffet. As soon as I receive an answer for that, I’ll update this article.
Also unclear are the operating hours, which they could not provide at the time of our interview. Work will be starting very soon. They expect it to open in about a month, pending inspections. Stay tuned!
