The Ice Cream Boutique in Bordentown is staying open under new ownership

New Owners Take Over The Ice Cream Boutique in Bordentown

There’s some sweet news coming out of Bordentown:
The Ice Cream Boutique is staying open!

Back in July, it appeared the popular ice cream shop at 216 Farnsworth Avenue would be closing its doors. The Ice Cream Boutique was operated by the same owners behind The Candy Jar by 1892, who announced they were stepping away from the ice cream side of the business to concentrate on growing The Candy Jar.

As it turns out, this isn’t the end of The Ice Cream Boutique after all. Instead, it’s the beginning of a new chapter under some very familiar Bordentown ownership.

The Ice Cream Boutique announced today that the business is being passed along to sisters Lora Noller of Nola B’s Gluten-Free and Linda D’Amico of Designs by Linda Florist, two local businesswomen who already have roots on Farnsworth Avenue.

In announcing the transition, the outgoing owners thanked Bordentown for its support and said they were excited to see the shop continue under its new ownership.

“We’re passing the scoop to the wonderful folks behind Nola B’s and Linda’s in Bordentown!” they shared on Instagram, adding that they were grateful for all the memories and wished the new owners success.

It’s a pretty fitting transition.

Nola B’s Gluten-Free and Linda’s are located nearby at 212 Farnsworth Avenue, putting the new owners practically next door to The Ice Cream Boutique. Designs by Linda lists its Bordentown retail location at 212 Farnsworth Avenue.

And while one Bordentown chapter continues, the former owners of The Ice Cream Boutique have plenty happening with The Candy Jar.

Earlier this month, South Jersey Food Scene got the scoop that The Candy Jar by 1892 is expanding into Merchantville, opening its third location at 19 S. Centre Street. The new shop joins its existing locations in Collingswood and Bordentown.

So, everyone gets something sweet out of this deal.

The Candy Jar team can focus on growing the candy business, including its expansion into Merchantville. At the same time, The Ice Cream Boutique can remain part of Downtown Bordentown under owners already invested in the local business community.

That’s certainly a much happier ending than the one we thought we were getting back in July.

For Downtown Bordentown, it also means one fewer empty storefront and the continuation of another independently owned small business along Farnsworth Avenue.

And, most importantly for ice cream fans, The Ice Cream Boutique isn’t going anywhere.
