Palmisano's Sandwich Shop Sewell NJ

What’s New at Palmisano’s Sandwich Shop in Washington Township

Palmisano’s Sandwich Shop in Washington Township is celebrating its 1st Anniversary (as “Palmisano’s) during the month of October.

You can read about the grand re-opening in 2024 on 42 Freeway here:

Previously, it had been called Brick Grocery and was a gourmet specialty shop that also did sandwiches. The store featured gourmet olive oils, vinegars, spices, cheeses, Italian deli meats, imported chocolates and desserts, fresh pasta, and a variety of other specialty items.

The Palmisano of the eatery is proprietor Nick Palmisano. He wanted to bring a taste of South Philly to South Jersey with authentic Italian Market-inspired sandwiches and other specialty delicacies made with high-quality ingredients.

Nick Palmisano of Palmisano’s Sandwich Shop

The community has embraced the new concept, with a roster of loyal customers who order frequently every week, as well as many customers visiting from all over South Jersey who go out of their way based on recommendations in the SJFS Facebook group. Nick and his team have found a culinary niche that works for them with rave reviews from happy foodies across the region as well as critical acclaim from credentialed critics.

While the menu of classic and creative hot and cold sandwiches (on Sarcone’s rolls delivered fresh daily from South Philly), pasta, and salads is largely set, Nick likes to add new items from time to time to keep things interesting. Here’s a rundown of some of the newer items that are making taste buds happy in Gloucester County.

Fig Wings!

WOW! Let’s face it, who doesn’t like wings? I eat more wings than I care to admit. These are truly special. I love everything fig, too. These are just perfect. The combination of the fig with burrata drizzle elevates a standard wing to gourmet wing status!

Chicken Meatballs stuffed with Long Hots & Sharp Provolone

The only better than having these chicken meatballs by themselves would be to put them on a Sarcone’s roll, with more provolone cheese and long hots, and smothered in vodka sauce. Wait, did I just invent a new sandwich? Honestly, you can’t go wrong with these meatballs.

Pan Seared Roman Artichokes with Fresh Lemon & EVOO

Palmisano’s doesn’t want to pigeonhole itself into being merely a sandwich shop, it truly believes in doing things a little differently and adding unexpected items to the menu. Nothing screams more Italian than a good artichoke! Just a simply fresh and delicious appetizer.

Fried Gnocchi with Broccoli Rabe & Sausage

A sandwich shop serving up pan fried gnocchi? That’s how they roll at Palmisano’s. The classic pairing of sausage and broccoli rabe together with the pillowy pasta, is all about Italian comfort food done right!

Like I said, Palmisano’s is doing things a little differently, but always with a nod to traditional Italian fare. Don’t forget their Filet Mignon cheesesteaks that everybody raves about, too!

If you’ve never been, add them to your list to visit. If you’re a fan and regular customer, congratulations and continue to enjoy!

Don’t forget that they are in the SJFS Frequent Diner program. So every time you go, when you flash your card, you’ll get 20% off your order. It’s THAT easy!

Stay tuned for their football menu dropping soon!
