Re Café Brings Coffee and Smoothies to an Unexpected Spot in Cherry Hill

A new café has opened next to a well-known martial arts studio in Cherry Hill (across from the Cherry Hill Mall).

Re Café, owned by Shane Baker and friends/partners Anthony and Rachel Robinson, is now serving coffee and smoothies at 226 Haddonfield Road, on the 2nd floor, right next to Tiger Schulmann’s Martial Arts.

Baker, who owns and operates the martial arts center, saw an opportunity when the tech company that had previously rented half of the upstairs space moved out.

“The space already had a kitchen, and I thought, why not make it into a little café?” Baker said. “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, and it felt like a natural fit to give our students and visitors something to enjoy before or after training.”

The idea, which Baker and the Robinsons had casually discussed in the past, started to take shape last November. After months of planning, permits, and inspections, Re Café has now officially opened to the public nearly ten months later.

The shop features Bucks County Coffee Co. beans for its drip coffee and espresso drinks, as well as fresh fruit smoothies made with oat or almond milk.

The coffee menu features a variety of options, including drip coffee (with decaf), lattes, cappuccinos, Americanos, mochas, chai, and matcha lattes. A selection of teas is also available.

Smoothies come in six varieties, blended with fresh fruit, yogurt, and/or milk alternatives, and are available in both small and large sizes. Customers can also add protein powder for an extra boost.

While the café is starting small, the owners hope to expand their offerings to include quick bites such as fresh bagels from a local bakery and ready-to-eat salads. For now, guests can choose from a selection of healthier packaged snacks, including chips, pretzels, and protein bars.

There are two tables with chairs and a counter in the ordering area, as well as a comfortable and quiet lounge area when you first walk in, with a sofa and soft chairs for enjoying your drinks. Customers are free to hang out and even do some work.

Re Café is open Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Once the neighboring Pilates Soul Studio opens, the café plans to extend its hours and begin serving at 7:00 a.m. to accommodate early morning fitness-goers.
