South Jersey Food Scene Hall of Fame Inductee: Mart Pretzel Cinnaminson

It’s time to add another venerated South Jersey food institution into the South Jersey Food Scene Hall of Fame. The one, the only: Mart Pretzel. This isn’t just any soft pretzel place; it’s a true icon of twisted dough and has been delighting hungry locals since 1965.

After nearly 60 years, the beloved Soft Pretzel Bakery is now located in Pep Boys Plaza on Route 130 in Cinnaminson. Nostalgia lives here, less than a mile from where Cass’s Soft Pretzel Bakery first opened its doors in the legendary, yet no longer standing, Pennsauken Mart.

Mart Pretzel isn’t merely a business—it’s a legacy preserved by the passionately committed third-generation owner, Sandy Fraser. The Dutch-style, handcrafted soft pretzels speak for themselves and have earned them many accolades and hordes of loyal customers.

From the soft pretzels to the pretzel sandwiches and the irresistible pretzel dogs, each item is a symphony of salty, doughy delight. And don’t forget the BOOST – a local carbonated cola-flavored soft drink primarily found in South Jersey.

It doesn’t get any more South Jersey than Mart Pretzel!

So let’s roll out the red carpet and give a standing ovation to Mart Pretzel. They’re more than deserving of this Hall of Fame honor—here’s to at least another 60 years of soft pretzel goodness in South Jersey!

Please note: this is a fun project that the editor of South Jersey Food Scene (who runs this site very part time) started in 2023 and will contribute to as time allows.

There are SO MANY deserving entries into the Hall of Fame and, knock on wood, we’ll get to all of them over time. Do not be offended if you don’t see a spot added yet. Give us time!
