UPDATE AUGUST 2026: Sweet Cherry is now open! I’ll check it out soon and report back!
Update June 2026: The temporary banner I originally took a photo of was taken down for a while, and I assumed Sweet Cherry had backed out. Well, I drove by today and saw the new sign replacing the Sushi House sign firmly in place indicating that Sweet Cherry will be coming. And, according to the new sign, it will be more than ice cream, it will also feature “Mexican Snacks.” Nobody was next door at Canela Mexican Cafe, and there was no answer when I called. I’m wondering if they are the same owner. I will keep trying until I get answer and report back when I have more details. Either way, sounds like a fun concept. Mexican ice cream and street snacks have been very popular in recent years.

I hate to be scarce about this one. But I noticed earlier in the week when I was driving by that Sushi House on Route 38 in Cherry Hill appeared closed. I forgot to check online and make a phone call. However, today when I was driving by, I noticed a banner hanging from the sign.

So, of course, I drove into the parking lot to get a closer look to look at it. Coming soon will be a new ice cream place called Sweet Cherry. The old Sushi House sign is still up, but the windows are covered. I searched online and couldn’t find any information and the old number is out of order.
I figured I’d post about this now to inform that Sushi House is closed. It did not last long at all. It only opened last November!
Of course, once I have more information about Sweet Cherry, I’ll update this article. The name is a bit unfortunate because when you search for “Sweet Cherry Ice Cream,” another popular ice cream spot right down the street pops up. Hopefully they do all the necessary search engine things prior to opening so when people search, they find the right spot.
There is no social media presence to speak of either. It’s still very early, but they better hurry – summer is right around the corner!
Stay tuned.
