November Update: Sushi House opens today! Here are the menus. They have an online ordering site, too.
The sign is up at Sushi House Hibachi & Teriyaki, located in Plaza 38 at 2442 Route 38 in Cherry Hill Township (on the Maple Shade border). It will be in the former Cindy’s Chinese Cuisine in the last spot on the left.
The small strip of stores also houses Canela Mexican, Chicksville Hot Chicken, Trappixx Jamaican Restaurant, and is across the highway from Outback Steakhouse and Dunkin’.
When SJFS called the number on the sign, the person was a tad hesitant to answer questions, but ultimately said that there is much work happening inside (as shown in the photo below), and it is at least a couple of months from opening.
Which is quite all right because recently, there has been an influx of sushi restaurant openings in Cherry Hill Township.
Most notably, Sushi Boss Hibachi & Sushi, the AYCE restaurant, recently opened just down the road at Hillview Shopping Center.
Koi Matsu Japanese Restaurant opened a couple of months ago on Route 70.
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar on Haddonfield Road opened last year.
Kooma Asian Fusion & Martini Bar at the Cherry Hill Mall also opened last year.
Existing restaurants within about a mile include Mikado Japanese Restaurant (Route 70), Kabuki Japanese Cuisine (Haddonfield Road), Mr. Sushi AYCE (Route 70), Sushi To Go (Haddonfield Road), and Sushi King AYCE (Kings Highway).
Let us not forget Benihana, which has been operating for over 20 years.
A little further away, but also in Cherry Hill, are Oishi Hibachi (Greentree Road), Megu Sushi & Hibachi (Route 70), and Zushi Dozo (Route 70).
Not to mention Tommy’s Tavern & Tap near Wegmans also serves sushi!
There are many sushi options in Cherry Hill. So, let’s welcome another one when they open. I’ll be sure to share the date when I find out.
