UPDATE: The Corner Seafood is NOT Bringing Seafood Platter Concept to Pennsauken

FINAL UPDATE! The Corner Seafood in Pennsauken is NOT opening. The sale of the building fell through. It will now be Smokin Rev and Lady Q’s Gourmet Barbeque for the foreseeable future until another tenant is secured.

UPDATE: The Corner Seafood in Pennsauken will open on June 25th. They’ve also created a new Facebook page. So, I guess follow there for more updates.

Just when it seemed like the seafood platter craze had begun to cool down, a new player is preparing to make waves in South Jersey.

The Corner Seafood, a Philadelphia-based seafood restaurant known for its seafood platter offerings, is set to open a new location in Pennsauken. The restaurant will take over the former Back Alley Barbecue space on Haddonfield Road, bringing another seafood-focused dining option to Camden County.

The Corner Seafood first established itself on West Passyunk Avenue in South Philadelphia, building a reputation for serving fresh seafood, shellfish, and seasonal whole-body crabs. The restaurant’s menu centers around customizable seafood boils featuring a variety of seafood options and bold seasonings, a concept that has remained popular throughout the region in recent years.

Behind the new Pennsauken location is The Corner Seafood owner Mike Dedja, who is no stranger to the restaurant business.

The new Pennsauken location is expected to follow the same seafood platter model as the original Philadelphia restaurant, offering customers a hands-on dining experience centered around fresh seafood and flavorful spice blends. Selections range from crab legs and shrimp to shellfish and other seafood favorites.

The arrival of The Corner Seafood will be the latest and greatest addition to the Haddonfield Road corridor, filling the restaurant space vacated by Back Alley Barbecue.

An opening date for the Pennsauken location has not yet been announced, as they have just taken over the space and there is work to be done to transform it into their own, but seafood lovers across South Jersey – keep a close eye here as the transition from BBQ to seafood restaurant progresses.

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available – which will be soon, I promise!
