The Early Bird in Riverton Announces New Ownership

The Early Bird in Riverton has announced new ownership.

Back in April, the previous owners, Nicole Rafter and Jeannie Tuscano, revealed that they were selling the business.

After an extensive search, they have found the perfect individuals to take over.

“The time has come to pass the baton,” Rafter and Tuscano stated. “We feel we have found the ideal people.”

Yesterday, Josh Evans and Chris Donnelly, owners of Common Grounds in Oaklyn, were officially announced the new owners of The Early Bird. They will officially take over on Monday, September 29th, but they will close for a few days and reopen on Friday, October 3rd.

Evans and Donnelly plan to maintain the name, “The Early Bird.” They will add more espresso-based coffee options to the menu, such as coffee flights, while continuing to focus on breakfast and lunch.

To manage the food operations, they have partnered with Mandee Connors and Erik Matthews, who currently work at Common Grounds and have extensive experience in the breakfast and brunch space from their time at Turning Point. Erik also has prior experience at Dad’s Deli in Marlton.

“We will keep the from scratch Early Bird favorites while adding a few of our own menu staples in the coming weeks,” they said.

New items on the menu will include Espresso Pancakes and a dish they are calling the Burlington Penny, which features a herbed gravy twist on classic biscuits and gravy.

Additionally, they will offer seasonal specials for both coffee and food, including fall-flavored pancakes.

Good news for SJFS Frequent Diner program members… they’ll be honoring 10% off your check when you show them your card.
