Westmont Diner Haddon Township NJ

What’s Happening at The Westmont Diner

Have you been to Westmont Diner on Cuthbert Boulevard in Haddon Township lately? You should definitely check out what they’re doing!

If you recall, this location was previously Crystal Lake Diner for many years. In 2020, Christos Prentzas and his wife, Eirini Sakellari, purchased it and moved the Westmont Diner from Haddon Avenue to its current location.

Since then, they have renovated the space and upgraded the menu. The dining room is bright, warm, and comfortable, with comfy booths, tables & chairs, and natural and illuminated lighting.

In 2023, Prentzas hired Executive Chef Scott Megna (previously at the now-closed Erlton Social) to oversee revamping the diner menu. They brought him on board as a partner in the diner, too.

Chef Scott has more than 30 years of experience in the restaurant industry and culinary profession, starting in the Southern US at various restaurants and food service operations such as Walt Disney World and Stephen Starr Restaurants. He holds a degree in the Culinary Arts from The Culinary Institute of America.

Not Your Average Diner

With Chef Scott at the helm, he has transformed and elevated the humble diner into a gastronomic experience that South Jersey foodies will appreciate. Mostly everything is made from scratch in-house, including the pasta, gourmet soups, desserts, etc. Premium touches, such as pink Himalayan salt and gourmet jams by Bonne Maman, are on the table.

Homemade soups are especially popular with people calling ahead to reserve and ordering pints to go. Upon our recent visit we tried the Lobster & Shrimp Bisque and Rueben soup, both luxurious and delicious.

Vegans, vegetarians, and gluten-free diets are welcome, with special menus designed for these specific dietary needs with care taken to avoid cross-contamination in the kitchen.

While standard diner fare is always available, they have introduced various themed nights to take the dining experience to another level, including Burger Tuesdays, BBQ Wednesdays, Greek Night Thursdays, Dinner Specials on Fridays and Saturdays, and Sundays with Sinatra. The menus change often, adding new dishes weekly to make things more interesting and there is always something to go back to try next time.

Sundays with Sinatra includes live crooner Jeff Epstein, a classically-trained singer who belts out the classics by Old Blue Eyes. Enjoy low and slow-cooked Sunday Gravy (like grandma used to make!) and other housemade Italian dishes over a soundtrack of Sinatra songs.

Chef Scott has also started his own garden on the side of the building, growing herbs, leafy greens, and even some peppers.

Whether you want something new and delicious, or comfort food standbys, check out the new Westmont Diner in Haddon Township. They have put a lot of extra thought and effort into the dining experience there, and you will not be disappointed.

I eat often at the Westmont Diner. The last time I was there, I told the owner that I appreciate how this diner keeps getting better and better. It had gone downhill with the previous owners following the fire. Now it’s one of my favorite diners and I really appreciate the senior menu, specials, and vegan and vegetarian choices. The food is now terrific, as is the service, and the owners are friendly, welcoming, and kind. My niece, sister, and brother-in-law also consider this one of their favorites.
