MOUNT HOLLY, NJ – The Burlington County Commissioners and New Jersey Senator Troy Singleton are excited to announce the return of Burlington County Restaurant Week this summer, saying the week-long celebration of local restaurants and eateries is poised to become the County’s biggest business promotion yet.
Restaurant Week will kick off this year on Sunday, August 14, and continue through Saturday, August 20.
Leading up to the event, participating restaurants will be highlighted on the County’s social media platforms and the Burlington County website. An interactive map will also display the restaurants joining the 2022 celebration. Many participating food establishments will have special offers, fixed-price meals, and other weekly discounts. Others may feature special menu items.
Restaurant Week helps promote and support Burlington County restaurants and their employees. It also showcases their menus, dishes, and specialties and their importance to local communities.
“Close to 50 restaurants participated in our third Restaurant Week last year, making it one of our biggest business promotions,” said Burlington County Commissioner Director Dan O’Connell. “This year, we’re looking to build on that success and make Restaurant Week bigger and better, with more participating restaurants and specials. We’re hoping for a record turnout so our county’s restaurants can rebound strong from the challenges they’ve faced the past two years, and we’re thrilled to have Senator Singleton’s help to spread the word about this event and all the great dining available in Burlington County.”
More than 10,000 people are employed by restaurants in the county, and the businesses also help attract people to neighborhood downtowns and business districts.
“Restaurants are places where friends and family come together to enjoy great food and company, and by patronizing them, we help support our own neighbors, friends, and communities,” added Senator Singleton. “We know the pandemic was a huge challenge for most restaurants, and some still haven’t fully recovered. That’s why I’m proud to once again partner with the Burlington County Commissioners to sponsor Restaurant Week. It is our collective goal to promote the many great dining choices here in Burlington County, to encourage people to dine locally, and to expose residents to new eateries they never tried before.”
This is a free promotional opportunity for local restaurants. Interested restaurants should complete an online form seeking basic information and any specials or discounts they plan to offer during the week. Restaurants aren’t required to create specials or deals to participate, but they are encouraged to do so. The form is available here.
Participating restaurants will receive table cards and posters highlighting the event, which is being held in August this year based on feedback from restaurant owners.
“The feedback we received was that the event attracted newcomers to restaurants and gave them a boost during an uncertain time when pandemic restrictions were being lifted,” said Deputy Director Tom Pullion. “This year, we were told that August would be a beneficial time to hold the event because it’s traditionally a slower period. However, with our residents’ support, we think we can make it one of our restaurants’ best months of the year. As a Burlington County foodie, I know I’m looking forward to it.”
Commissioner Felicia Hopson, who created the first Restaurant Week, said the event has grown to become one of the County’s biggest success stories.
“Burlington County Restaurant Week first started in 2019 during my first year on the Commissioner Board and it’s been fantastic to see how popular it’s become,” Hopson said. “We now have restaurant owners emailing and phoning our office in advance to ask when this year’s week will be held because they want to plan special dishes and menus.”
Commissioner Allison Eckel, who is participating in her first Restaurant Week as a commissioner, said she was also looking forward to visiting some of the participating establishments and sampling the wide variety of creations and specialties.
“Restaurant Week is a way to celebrate the creativity and talent working in our county restaurants and how important these establishments are to our local communities,” said Eckel. “It’s a way for us to show off the many amazing restaurants that are located here and to encourage our residents to try out new spots they’ve never been to or experience one of their favorite places all over again. Either way, we hope they come hungry.”
