Lillo’s Tomato Pies to Open Gloucester City Location During St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Lillo’s Tomato Pies, the acclaimed South Jersey pizzeria and cheesesteak shop originally based in Hainesport, is set to open the doors of its long-anticipated second location in Gloucester City this weekend, with owners choosing the city’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday to debut the new restaurant.

In a social media post circulated Friday, the family-owned business invited the community to join them “on Parade Day” as they open their downtown Camden County dining destination. “This Sunday, on Parade Day, our family officially becomes part of yours,” the post read, underscoring the moment as a community celebration as much as a business milestone.

On its opening day, the Gloucester City location will serve a limited menu, offering a snapshot of what has made the Hainesport original a regional favorite. Lillo’s announced they will prepare 200 tomato pies and 400 cheesesteaks, served with fries, while supplies last. A selection of drafts, shots, light mixed drinks, and canned beverages will also be available at the bar, which is slated to close at 10 p.m.

The location at 157 South Burlington Street occupies the former Thomas Murphy’s Pub building, a corner property with a rich local history and multi-level interior space that has been refurbished for the new concept.

Lillo’s built its reputation over the past several years at its Hainesport location in Burlington County, drawing acclaim for its Trenton-style tomato pies, a local Italian-American specialty with roots in the state capital, and hearty cheesesteaks. The business garnered additional attention from national food reviewers and regional fans, fueling demand that helped hasten expansion plans.
