A Cherry Hill favorite is celebrating a milestone this year.
Sang Kee Noodle Cafe is marking its 15th anniversary in Cherry Hill, an impressive run for the Hong Kong-style Chinese restaurant that has become a familiar fixture along Kings Highway.
The Cherry Hill location opened in 2011 at 1601 Kings Highway North, bringing the long-running Sang Kee tradition across the bridge from Philadelphia and giving South Jersey diners a destination for everything from noodle soups and hot pots to Peking duck and dumplings.
The Sang Kee story itself goes back much further. Restaurateur Michael Chow founded the original Sang Kee in Philadelphia’s Chinatown in 1980. More than three decades later, Chow partnered with longtime chef Sunny Ly and his wife, Jeanny, to open the Cherry Hill restaurant.
Over the years, Sang Kee Noodle Cafe has built a loyal South Jersey following by sticking to what it does best: traditional Hong Kong-style specialties prepared fresh, served in a casual and approachable setting. The restaurant describes its philosophy simply as good food at reasonable prices with friendly service.
Anyone who has eaten there over the years probably has a favorite. Peking duck, hot pots, noodle soups, General Tao’s Chicken and coconut shrimp have all ranked among the restaurant’s popular dishes, while its expansive menu makes Sang Kee the kind of place where it’s easy to discover something new on each visit.
And, of course, there are the scallion pancakes.

Sang Kee is giving customers another reason to stop by during its anniversary year with a special Back to School promotion throughout September.
From September 1 through September 30, 2026, purchase any main dish and receive a FREE scallion pancake.
That’s a pretty tasty way to celebrate. The crispy Chinese scallion pancakes are normally offered as a starter on Sang Kee’s menu and are currently priced at $8.40.
Fifteen years is no small accomplishment in the restaurant business, particularly considering everything restaurants have navigated during that time. Sang Kee in Cherry Hill made it through the pandemic by continuing to serve its customers through takeout and delivery before eventually reopening its dining room.
Through it all, Sang Kee has remained part of Cherry Hill’s diverse and continually evolving restaurant scene. It’s a Philadelphia area institution with a total of five locations in the region that keeps chugging along serving delicious Chinese cuisine.
