Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace Confirms Moorestown Opening

South Jersey is officially getting its first Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace.

The popular New York-based Italian specialty supermarket is planning to open a new location in Moorestown in 2027, part of the company’s expansion into the Greater Philadelphia market.

The South Jersey opening has been anticipated for some time, with speculation that it would be in Cherry Hill, but the latest news provides confirmation that Uncle Giuseppe’s is moving forward with its South Jersey plans in Moorestown.

For local food lovers unfamiliar with the brand, Uncle Giuseppe’s is much more than a traditional grocery store. The company describes its stores as Italian marketplaces combining everyday grocery shopping with an extensive selection of prepared foods and specialty departments.

One of the biggest attractions is the amount of food made fresh in-house. Shoppers can find fresh mozzarella, handmade pasta, Italian baked goods, prepared meals, pizza, sandwiches, meats, seafood, cheeses and desserts, among other offerings. Many items are prepared in view of customers, adding an old-school Italian market feel to the shopping experience.

Its prepared food department includes Italian favorites and ready-to-eat meals, while its bakery produces breads, focaccia, cookies, cakes, pastries and cannoli. The stores also feature full-service butcher, seafood, deli and cheese departments.

The Moorestown location will significantly expand the company’s reach and be its first location in South Jersey. A confidential source told me a couple of months ago that it would be taking over the current Barnes & Noble Booksellers on Nixon Drive behind the Mall. And that appears to be the case.
