Axo Tacos To Open Brick & Mortar in Lindenwold

Jose Lorenzo started Axo Tacos as a pop-up serving birria and regular tacos, birria egg rolls, and other specials like birria ramen in March 2020, first out of his garage at his house in Lindenwold. He meant to do it part-time while working his management job in Philly. When word started going around about how good the food was, he went from 15 orders to 50 per day.

After quickly outgrowing the garage, he found space in a shared kitchen with Puddin’ Palace on Clinton Avenue in Oaklyn. The business became so good that he could walk away from the Philly job and focus on his pop-ups. In addition to working out of the kitchen in Oaklyn, he secured a pop-up location at Clementon Park this year, which will carry over with TWO locations inside the park in 2023.

Now Axo Tacos is preparing to open its first brick & mortar location at the former Little Tuna at 4 North White Horse Pike in Lindenwold. A dream come true for the hard-working immigrant from Mexico and a bona fide pandemic success story for a South Jersey food business owner.

In a recent Instagram post, Lorenzo said, “Today is a special day. We got the keys to our first restaurant and signed our contract for two additional locations at Clementon Park.”

He expects to open the Lindenwold restaurant in March or April or “by Cinco de Mayo” if all goes well. As it becomes available, we’ll share more information, such as the official opening date.
