Ciconte's Aquires Don & Bert's Custard Stand

Ciconte’s Restaurant Group Acquires Legendary Don & Bert’s Custard Stand in Paulsboro

One of Gloucester County’s most beloved landmarks is entering a new chapter.

A representative from Ciconte’s Restaurant Group has confirmed that the South Jersey hospitality company has acquired Don & Bert’s Custard Stand in Paulsboro, ensuring that the iconic eatery’s legacy will continue under new ownership.

Since opening in 1965, Don & Bert’s has become a tradition for generations of local families. Known for its famous cheese fries, burgers, breakfast sandwiches, milkshakes, water ice, and creamy frozen custard, the roadside favorite has remained a nostalgic destination for more than six decades.

Now officially part of the Ciconte’s Restaurant Group family, the team says preserving the character and traditions that made Don & Bert’s a community institution remains the top priority.

“A Paulsboro tradition since 1965, Don & Bert’s Custard Stand has been serving up scoops, sweets, and smiles for more than six decades,” the company states. “Today, as part of the Ciconte’s Restaurant Group family, we’re proud to continue the legacy that has made Don & Bert’s a local landmark for generations.”

While longtime customers can expect the classic menu and familiar atmosphere to remain, Ciconte’s plans to gradually introduce enhancements over time.

Perhaps the biggest immediate change will be one many customers have long wished for: Don & Bert’s now accepts credit cards.

Another noticeable change is an expanded online presence. The Ciconte’s marketing team has already brought its strong social media approach to Don & Bert’s, giving the historic shop a more active digital voice and allowing fans to stay updated on specials, events, and seasonal happenings.

Founded in 1989, Ciconte’s Restaurant Group has grown into one of South Jersey’s most recognizable hospitality companies, operating brands including Ciconte’s Pizzeria, Cinder Bar, Landmark Americana, The Village Pub, and a catering and events division.

For Paulsboro residents and the many families who have made memories at Don & Bert’s over the years, the message from the new owners is clear: the traditions aren’t going anywhere.

Instead, the beloved stand is beginning a new era; one that honors its past while thoughtfully embracing the future.

Don & Bert’s is open daily from 6 AM to 9:30 PM.

Congrats and best wishes for many more years to come for a South Jersey icon!
