Hot Dawgs Haddonfield

Hidden Gem Hot Dogs at Haddon Hall in Haddonfield

Tucked just off the main street in the charming downtown of Haddonfield, there’s a low-key food find that visitors often stumble upon by happy accident.

Inside Haddon Hall, a cozy “indoor farmers market,” you’ll find an adorable hot dog spot called “Hot Dawgs” featuring a simple menu using 100% organic, grass-fed beef hot dogs and sundry toppings.

What sets this spot apart is its somewhat hidden location on Mechanic Street, just off Kings Highway and right behind Kings Road Brewing Company. Yes, you can pick up some hot dogs and bring them to the brewery to enjoy with a beer. Couldn’t be a more perfect pairing!

It really is the kind of place you hear about from a friend (or SJFS)… or find while randomly wandering the picturesque streets of downtown Haddonfield. Hot dogs are kind of having a moment right now. There is renewed interest due to other local glizzy spots blowing up on social media. This place isn’t trying to compete. It doesn’t need to.

In a town known for boutique shopping, acclaimed restaurants, and historic charm, it’s nice to see a humble street food option. It had been on the SJFS radar for some time, and we were happy to stop by recently and try a few of the hot dogs. The SJFS team knows a thing or ten about hot dogs. But we digress.

Even aside from Hot Dawgs, we love what owners Sharon and Sofia Parker are doing with the space. Haddon Hall is laser-focused on supporting other local, especially women-owned small businesses. The little shop features products from small-batch, boutique makers, all based in our area.

For instance, ingredients include cheeses from Cheese Etc. in Haddon Township, hot sauce from Is it Spicy? Sauce Co in Gloucester City, and sauerkraut crafted with Kings Road lager made right there in Haddonfield.

Upon our visit we enjoyed the new Smash Dawg (made with MAC sauce from Is it Spicy? Sauce Co. on top of lettuce with crispy onions and ketchup), Gettysburg Dawg (made with Cheese Etc. horseradish beer cheese and bacon), and the Manayunk Dawg (topped with housemade macaroni and cheese, bacon, and sliced jalapenos).

The shop also carries bread from A Labor of Loaf, cheese from Cherry Grove Farm, pickled items from Spotted Horse Provisions, jams from That’s My Jam, prepared foods from Goodbeet, juices from Wild & Co.,  mushrooms and prepared foods from Midnight Mushrooms, honey from Mill Creek Apiary, desserts from Cynful Bliss, and so much more!

The locally curated gift shop carries over 30 handcrafted items from regional artisans, including soaps, pottery, candles, clothing, artwork, housewares, jewelry, skincare, and much more. They have thoughtfully packed a lot of products in a small space. It’s your local one-stop shop! A veritable retail smorgasbord.
