A significant change is coming to a beloved institution in Collingswood. The Pop Shop is rebranding with a new name, decor, and updated menu.
It will continue to operate as The Pop Shop through June 30th. On that day, they will host a “retirement party” for the public, where they’ll give away Pop Shop memorabilia and a chance for the community to say “farewell.”
After the event, the restaurant will close during the week of July 4th to implement renovations and train the staff. Then, during the second week of July, it will soft open as the new Stardust Cafe inspired by the Carl Sagan quote “we are all made of stardust.”
New owners, Jerry Goksun and Jennifer Vincent, who took over about a year and a half ago, tells South Jersey Food Scene, “It’s time for a change! We don’t only want to be known as a grilled cheese and milkshake place.”
They promise The Pop Shop will still be there in spirit, but it’s definitely a “glow up” for the 20+ year old restaurant. Among the first to know where the original owners, who whole-heartedly gave their full blessing and agreed it was time for a new, elevated experience.
Stardust Cafe will be an all-day cafe concept—8 AM to 9 PM—offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The update is not meant as a mere facelift but a full transformation with a reimagined retro look and feel that is both nostalgic and modern. They aim to entice new customers and rekindle the interest of those who haven’t stepped through the doors in years. The vision is to craft a spot for date nights, friends brunch, birthday gatherings, and more.
New food menu details are yet to be revealed, but they promise the Stardust Cafe will remain joyful, open to all, and the family-friendly charm intact. Among the new offerings will be mocktails, coffee flights, and lemonade samplers.
The event space next door will still be open to private parties and events.
