Three new places have entered the donut chat, and I’m excited to share them with you. Each has recently added donuts to their existing menus.
Victoria’s Bagel Bistro (Mount Laurel)
Recently, Victoria’s Bagel Bistro began offering donuts on weekends, adding a sweet treat for their breakfast crowd while keeping bagels as their mainstay. The donuts, created by father-and-daughter duo Alexis and Eric Wein, who joined Victoria’s team a few months ago, have become a popular weekend addition, often selling out quickly. Flavors include playful, nostalgic options like Fruity Pebbles, Oreo, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and a black raspberry-filled jelly donut, which I tried during a recent visit. Owner Victoria Feehan is delighted with how well the new donuts have been received, noting that customers are loving the new variety at the shop.
Call Me Crispy (Pennsauken)
Pairing chicken and donuts might sound unusual, but at Call Me Crispy, it’s a delicious new option in Pennsauken. Chef Abe Ahmad, co-owner and soon-to-be Walnut Hill College Restaurant School graduate, recently brought donuts to the menu to complement their popular chicken tenders and chicken sandwiches. Inspired by a pastry experience during a school trip to France, he now offers three rotating donut flavors and a giant cinnamon roll. During my recent visit, they were featuring the chocolate Oreo, cinnamon toast crunch, and lemon blueberry cruller.
Kismet Bagels (Collingswood)
Earlier this year, Kismet Bagels in Collingswood introduced a Dubai chocolate donut. A light, fluffy brioche donut stuffed with pistachio and kataifi and glazed with chocolate ganache. Like Victoria’s above, owners Jacob and Alexandra Cohen are firmly in the bagel business, but offering something sweet also made sense. I gladly sampled one during a recent visit and had no notes except I need a vat of that pistachio cream filling.
If you love donuts, you need to try these delicious new donuts spots! Tell them you saw it here and come back and tell me all about it!
