Are you a fan of Belgian waffles? They are thicker/dense waffle (made with a brioche dough rather than batter) with caramelized pearl sugar on the outside, and is a popular food in Belgium and other European countries.
A new franchised La Liegeoise concept is opening soon in Heritage Square Shopping Center (next to Penn Medicine) at 1871 Marlton Pike East Suite 8, formerly Good Life Organic Kitchen. The menu will consist of various sweet and savory Belgian Liege waffles with an abundant choice of sweet and savory toppings and much more.
The La Liegeoise concept originated in the south of France. It has been expanding in France and now has about 15 locations, which are a combination of storefronts, malls, and food trailers. Most of these locations are franchised.
Lucian Eyen, who lives in Woolrich Township, is friends with the owner (Sebastien Henry) and has partnered with him to bring the concept back to the continental United States. (Note: Lucian ran a short-lived La Liegeoise franchise at the Cherry Hill Mall about 10 years ago).
Lucian will also operate a food trailer for corporate events, festivals, and parties and be at various locations on weekends, like the Gloucester Premium Outlets.
He anticipates grand opening on Saturday, March 15th and plans to give out 200 free waffles that day.
