LBI Eats: Tuckers Tavern

Tuckers Tavern has been around for over 30 years and is a bonafide Long Beach Island institution. Offering gastro-pub inspired menus for brunch, lunch or dinner and an extensive raw bar, it’s truly a comfort food destination and perfect for extra large groups, private parties or intimate dining.

It was extensively renovated after Sandy and exudes a rustic nautical theme throughout. A fully covered outside deck has some of the best views of the bay. And now this year, they’ve added the Buoy Bar, a rooftop bar, open daily weather permitting at 12PM offering shared plates, canned beer, cocktails and with stunning views of the bay! Sure to be one of the hottest spots this summer.

Inside the food is creative, hearty, and comforting. They go heavy on the coastal beach favorites without being overly cliche and with modern twists. It’s satisfying good grub to fill you up after a day at the beach or whatever else you get up to on Long Beach Island.

Variety of oysters from the raw bar
Spanish Octopus with fingerling potatoes, shallots, smoked tomatoes, saffron rouille – a standout on the menu!
Teriyaki Salmon with smashed potatoes and arugula salad
Local Flounder Francaise with creamy crab orzo, lemon-caper butter petite salad
Loaded Kobe Beef Dog with cheddar, caramelized onion, hot peppers, cracked mustard sauce on a pretzel roll with French fries (and we do mean loaded there’s a dog under there somewhere!)

Everything is so tasty and satiating. Tuckers Tavern is such a warm, inviting restaurant on Long Beach Island. You will be hard pressed to find something you don’t like about it. Put this on your visit list when you’re on LBI!
